Bookkeeper (Part-Time)
JOB DESCRIPTION
Overview
SHR Studios is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Bookkeeper to support the financial management of our planning and design practice. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and supporting contract-based financial tracking typical of an architecture and design firm.
The ideal candidate is not only technically proficient in bookkeeping fundamentals, but also understands how professional service firms operate—particularly the relationship between contracts, billings, expenses, and project performance. This individual will work directly with the firm’s owners and leadership team to ensure financial clarity and help refine systems that support efficient and accurate financial management.
This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling. Remote or hybrid arrangements may be considered depending on candidate qualifications.
Duties
Financial Recordkeeping
Record and categorize all firm expenses accurately and in a timely manner
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
Accounts Payable
Enter and track vendor invoices
Coordinate with project managers and leadership to confirm appropriate allocation of expenses to projects
Prepare and schedule payments to vendors
Accounts Receivable
Generate client invoices based on contract terms and project progress
Track outstanding receivables and follow up on unpaid invoices as needed
Maintain organized and accurate billing records
Contract and Project Financial Support
Assist leadership in tracking project budgets, billings, and contract performance
Support financial administration of professional services contracts
Help identify and implement improved workflows for financial tracking and reporting
Financial Reporting and Coordination
Prepare basic financial summaries and reports as requested
Coordinate with the firm’s CPA and tax advisors as needed
Maintain organized and accessible financial records
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping experience
Demonstrated experience managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities reliably
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with architecture, design, engineering, or professional services firms
Familiarity with project-based accounting and contract billing
Experience supporting small businesses or closely held professional firms
Interest in improving systems and workflows

Project-based accounting or time-tracking systems (e.g., Ajera, Deltek, Harvest, or similar)
Microsoft Word
Education
Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or related field preferred
Equivalent professional experience will be considered
